May 24, the first of six seasons (with 15 shows each) of the TV comedy show bullyparade is first broadcast on ProSieben, a German TV network. The TV movie Easy Bully is nominated for the Golden Rose of Montreux. The radio show Bully´s Late Light Show goes on air on the Radio Energy Network.

Kick-off for herbX tonstudios. The sound studio quickly establishes itself as the point of contact for radio commercials and radio productions. bullyparade receives its first nomination for the Golden Rose of Montreux.
 Simultaneously, with the start of season 2, bullyparade goes into the next round.

In January, Michael Bully Herbig establishes the film production company herbX film gmbh, and the company starts to work on its first theatrical feature project Manitou’s Shoe. In the same year, the post-production company Xframe gmbh is founded together with cutter Alexander Dittner – and not only herbX productions get their finishing touches in the AVID cutting rooms! While the second season of bullyparade receives another nomination for the Golden Rose of Montreux, season three is broadcast on TV. For the first time, herbX tonstudios are in charge of the sound design and audio processing for a theatrical feature film: Erkan & Stefan, a production by Hofman&Voges. More productions follow suit. In the coming years, sound and music for all projects by herbX medienproduktion and herbX film are edited and finished at the studio. Other outside productions complete the list, such as the feature films Soloalbum, Die Wolke, Es ist ein Elch entsprungen, Stellungswechsel or Die wilden Kerle 1-5.

In April, filming of Manitou’s Shoe starts. At the same time, Erkan and Stefan, the first movie directed by Bully, becomes a huge box office success and registers a total admission count of 1.2 million. The fourth season of bullyparade is broadcast and receives its first nomination for the German Television Award.

In 2001, bullyparade is again nominated for the German Television Award. Season 5, again broadcast by ProSieben, turns out to be just as successful as its predecessor. July 19 is release day for Manitou’s Shoe. A true sensation: as early as day one, the comedy film breaks all records, registering a total of 250,000 cinemagoers. After the first weekend, total admissions rise to 2.5 million. In total, 11.7 million people are drawn to the cinemas to see Michael Bully Herbig’s western spoof, and the blockbuster becomes the most successful German film, and in Austria the most successful film, of all time! In Austria, the film even beats “Titanic”, which had been the most successful motion picture so far.

bullyparade sees its third nomination for the Golden Rose of Montreux while season 6, the last season of bullyparade is aired. Bully holds a 13-week vote among the comedy show’s audience, allowing them to pick the theme for his next feature film. The show’s fans vote for Dreamship Surprise. Manitou’s Shoe receives numerous awards, including three German Film Awards. Due to the movie’s extraordinary popularity, German cinemas see a re-release of the western comedy including a new prologue dedicated to the new version. Fans of the movie are thrilled to be presented with Manitou’s Shoe – Extra Large.

In April, shooting starts for the feature film Dreamship Surprise – Period 1 feature film. Bully & Rick, a comedy show for TV, is under development for ProSieben.

Spring sees the start of the shoot for the first season of the comedy show Bully & Rick. On March 7, Manitou’s Shoe is aired on German TV. With a total viewing rate of 12 million people, the movie’s TV premiere on the German TV network ProSieben is a huge success, and ProSieben registers the best movie broadcast market share in the network’s history. With a sensational opening on July 22, Dreamship Surprise – Period 1 goes down in German cinema history. With a crowd of more than 650,000 pouring into German cinemas on day one, Michael Bully Herbig not only beats his own record, seeing as the science fiction comedy’s release turns out to be the most successful opening of all times for a German production. Just under 9.2 million cinemagoers are drawn to theaters, making Dreamship Surprise – Period 1 both “cinema hit of the year” and one of the most successful German feature films of all times, second only to Manitou’s Shoe. Marking position two, “Space Taxi”, one of the songs from the movie, almost tops the German Single Charts and receives the Comet music award. Dreamship Surprise – Period 1 receives several awards, including a Bambi Award in the award category “Film National”. In fall, first preparations start or Lissi and the Wild Emperor are started. The first season (13 episodes) of Bully & Rick, an attention-to-detail TV comedy show, is first aired on September 13.

Alexander Dittner takes over 100% of Xframe gmbh. In October, “Bully & Rick” is awarded the German Comedy Award in the “Best Sketch Show” category. For their work on “Dreamship Surprise – Period 1”, the herbX studio’s sound experts are nominated for the German Film Award in the category of “Best Sound Design”. For “Lissi and the Wild Emperor”, herbX film and Michael Bully Herbig start work on their first CGI-animated movie. Total production time is 2-3 years, and, in cooperation with Scanline, a VFX company, a dedicated animation studio is set up for the production of the movie.

Production of the 2nd season of “Bully & Rick” with a total shooting time of 80 days starts. herbX tonstudios is in charge of sound editing for “Hui Buh – the Castle Ghost”, a Rat Pack production directed by Sebastian Niemann. The CGI movie “Lissi and the Wild Emperor” is in its second year of production. The second season of the “Bully & Rick” TV show is first broadcast on September 18. In 2007, again being nominated for the German Comedy Award, the show is awarded the WDR Eins Live Krone as “Best Comedy Show”.

After a total production time of two years, the animated movie “Lissi and the Wild Emperor” is released to German cinemas, recording the best box office results out of all German movies 2007. The 4D cinema motion ride “Lissi and the Wild Emperor” becomes a highly popular attraction at Bavaria Filmstadt. After almost 10 years of successful sound studio work, Michael Bully Herbig withdraws from the sound business. The herbX tonstudios are sold, their new name now being Wavefront Studios. Within the framework of further restructuring measures, herbX medienproduktion gmbh merges with herbX film gmbh. Script development for “Vicky the Viking”, a new feature film, starts.

“Lissi and the Wild Emperor” is nominated for the German Film Award in the “Best Film Score” category, and receives several awards, including the Bavarian Film Award. In early May, the first episode of the six-episode TV show “Bully sucht die starken Männer” is aired, the world’s first TV show dedicated to finding actors for leading characters of a cinema film. August 5 sees the start of shooting for the feature film “Vicky the Viking”. On December 7, the musical version of “Manitou’s Shoe” makes its world premiere at Berlin’s Theater of the West (Theater des Westens).

Post-production work for “Vicky the Viking” takes until mid-2009. Michael Bully Herbig’s adventure comedy film, first released to theaters on September 9, draws 5 million visitors, thus becoming the most successful German cinema film of the year.

”Vicky the Viking” is nominated for the German Film Award for “Best Production Design” (“Bestes Szenenbild”), “Best Sound” (“Beste Tongestaltung”), “Best Make-up”(“Bestes Maskenbild”) and “Best Film Score” (“Beste Filmmusik”), and, among other distinctions, is awarded two Bavarian Film Awards. In August, herbX film gmbh moves into its new offices on the premises of Bavaria Filmgelände. herbX film becomes co-producer of the Senator/deutschfilm production “Goethe!” directed by Philipp Stölzl and released to cinemas on October 14. On October 12, shooting starts for the Bavaria Film production “Hotel Lux” directed by Leander Haußmann and starring Michael Bully Herbig. herbX film is co-producer.

On June 11, “Bullyversum” opens its gates on the premises of Bavaria Filmstadt. Bullyversum is a surprising and interactive discovery journey through the productions of herbX film and Bully‘s works. Michael Bully Herbig stars in Helmut Dietl‘s “Zettl”. Shooting ends on July 8. herbX film is co-producer. “Hotel Lux”, a cinema film released to German cinemas on September 28, receives two awards at the Rome Festival, including an award for the “Best Film Score”.

“Hotel Lux” receives the Bavarian Film Award and is nominated for the German Film Awards (“Best Camera”, “Best Production Design” und “Best Make-up”). On January 31, Helmut Dietl‘s cinema film “Zettl” has its premiere with Michael Bully Herbig starring as the film’s protagonist.

Principle photography for feature „Buddy“ begins March 4th. The six-part sitcom “Bully makes Buddy” for ProSieben starts November 18. Just like classic US sitcoms, this show was filmed in front of a live studio audience. The comedy „Buddy“ is released December 25th. herbX film produced this romantic comedy with Warner Bros. as co-producers. Bully not only wrote the screenplay himself, but also produced and directed the film and starred in this new comedy that will not only make you laugh, but also tug at your heartstrings.

August 17th is the opening night for “Bullyparade – Der Film”. Right on time for the 20th anniversary of the popular tv-series “bullyparade”, this movie conquers the big screens and is number one of the German film charts for four consecutive weeks. The tv mini-series “Bullyparade – The Story” is aired on Sat1 in September. herbX film is producing the thriller “Ballon” in collaboration with STUDIOCANAL and SevenPictures. It is the story of one of the most spectacular flights over the East German border in a handmade hot-air-ballon.

Just a few weeks after it´s world premiere the thriller “Balloon” has been sold to numerous countries around the world. In Europe these are countries such as Benelux States, France, Greece, Italy, Spain, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary and other East-European countries. In North America so far distribution rights for Canada have been acquired, and in Asia “Balloon” can be seen in Japan, South Korea and Taiwan, as well as in Australia. herbX joins Studio Babelsberg as co producer of the movie “Traumfabrik”.

Boandlkramer’s Eternal Love (orig. Der Boandlkramer und die ewige Liebe), directed by Joseph Vilsmaier, is filmed on multiple locations in Bavaria and Austria. This production by Perathon Media marks the first time, that Michael Bully Herbig and acclaimed German comedian Hape Kerkeling share the screen. herbX film and LEONINE are co-producing.

The next Hellinger-Doll production “One Million Minutes” is in production in Berlin, Thailand and Iceland under the direction of Christopher Doll. Karoline Herfurth and Tom Schilling are taking on the leading roles, herbX film is co-producing. “One Million Minutes” tells a fairy tale set in contemporary Germany and at the same time the true story of a family in which a father is inspired by his daughter’s wish and four people embark on the journey of a lifetime. Theatrical release is February 1st, 2024, distributed by Warner Bros.
